Corticosteroid

Corticosteroid injections, also termed steroid joint injections, are anti-inflammatory medicines used to treat a range of conditions.

Steroids relieve pain and swelling. Injections are most commonly used for acute inflammation and arthritis. They are also used to enable  physiotherapy treatment to be commenced with less or no pain.

At Dr Westwood Clinic we also use Cingal® a combined Corticosteroid and Hyaluronic Acid injection for knee osteoarthritis in one convenient injection. The corticosteroid reduces inflammation, providing rapid pain relief within days of injection, while the HA component works in parallel to deliver long lasting pain relief proven to last through 6 months.
